With this tutorial I'll show you how to clean something like this.
I always start by doing the background first.
Step 1 --> Use the healing brush tool, set the mode to 'Replace', and start to move the background tone of this guys' hair over the SFX.
Step 2 --> Make sure the background color is black.
Step 3 --> Select with your 'Polygonal Lasso Tool' the same area as the below given example. Then Hit on Ctrl, X.
Now it's time to redraw the hair lines. You can do this on two different ways.
1) Redraw them yourself with the 'Polygonal Lasso Tool' or with the 'Pen Tool'.
Hit on Ctrl, X and there is your line.
2) Select one of the excisting hair lines,
copy and paste it (by hitting on Ctrl, C and then on Ctrl, V), and move it like this.
Either way, I'm fine with whatever you choose as long as the outcome is similar to this example below.
Step 4 --> Select with your 'Polygonal Lasso Tool' this area.
Step 5 --> Hit on Ctrl, C and then Ctrl, V. Step 6 --> Click with your mouse on the 'Move Tool' and move the layer to this area.
Step 7 --> Let's take a look at your layer panel. (If you don't have it
at the front of your screen go to Window --> Layers.)
Step 8 --> Set the Mode to 'Darken.'
This is how it should look like right now.
Step 9 --> Repeat this part again, and make the final touches till it looks like this.
That's one SFX cleaned. Let's head to the last one.
Step 10 --> Again, use the 'Healing Brush Tool' and erase as much as
possible of the SFX.
