Resizing will be done in four steps. However, don't forget I want to receive two files from you: 1) the 300dpi ones (leveled) 2) the resized version. * Download here the scans that you can use for this tutorial. 300dpi pages (use resize_example.jpg) Step 1 --> Go to Image --> Image Size.  Step 2 --> You'll see this window in front of you:  Step 3 --> First change the 'Resolution' to 300, then change only the width to 2000px. Click on 'OK.'  Step 4 --> Go again to Image --> Image Size. Step 5 --> This time set the width to 1700px. Click on 'OK'. Important - Never make the page bigger! Sometimes the scanner already resized the pages to 1700px and after you qc-ed the page it's normal that it turned out smaller than 1700px. If that's the case, don't resize the page and leave it the way it is!! resized pages Step 1 --> Go to Image --> Image Size. Step 2 --> Set the width to 1000px. Click on 'OK'. Step 2 --> Set the width to 702px. Click on 'OK'.   Wondering why we don't do it in one step? The answer is quite simple. Please take a look at the two examples below.   The first example has been resized in just one step. (From 1700px to 702px.) The second one has been done in the steps I just explained. As you can see the lines and tones are much smoother this way. Here's a better example.   DOUBLE PAGES Double pages will have twice the size of a normal page. - The normal size of a 300dpi scan is 1700px, so the double page should have the size of 3400px. - The normal size of a resized page is 702px, so the double page should have a size of 1404px. 300dpi pages (use resize_doublepage_example.jpg) Step 1 --> Go to Image --> Image Size. Set the Resolution to 300 and the width to 5000px. Click on 'OK.' Step 2 --> Go to Image --> Image Size. Set the width to 4000px. Click on 'OK.' Step 3 --> Go to Image --> Image Size. Set the width this time to 3400px. Click on 'OK.' resized pages (use resize_doublepage_example2.jpg) Step 1 --> Go to Image --> Image Size. Set the Resolution to 300 and the width to 3000px. Click on 'OK.' Step 2 --> Go to Image --> Image Size. Set the width to 2000px. Click on 'OK.' Step 3 --> Go to Image --> Image Size. Set the width this time to 1404px. Click on 'OK.' |
