Step 1 --> Go to Layer --> New Adjustment Layer --> Levels.
You should see this window at the front of your screen.
You can either type a name for the layer of just simply click 'OK.' After that a new window will pop-up on your screen looking like this.
Meaning of the input levels
- 0 = Those are the black tones. The higher the number, the darker the page gets.
- 1,00 = Those are the grey tones. The higher the number, the brighter the page gets.
If you use a number lower then 1,00, the darker the page becomes.
- 255 = Those are the white tones. The lower the number, the brighter the page becomes.
Step 2 --> Type in the numbers of your input levels. I'm going to use these.
*Note: When you've chosen the numbers for your input levels, use them for the entire chapter!
We're still not done. With a closer look, the page looks like this.
Therefore, we're going to level it again.
Step 3 --> Go to Layer --> New Adjustment Layer --> Levels. Click on
'OK.' Step 4 --> Type the numbers of your input levels. This is what I'm going to use.
It looks a lot better now.
Step 5 --> Use the eraser brush and clean the dust on the page.
So far everything should look like this.
Personally I think these grey shades are a bit too bright and therefore I'd like to make them darker.
I'm going to do this by using the number 0,8 for greytones.
I'm going to use a soft-rounded eraser brush tool and delete the leveling where I think it turned out to be too dark.
