Before you start with editing, it's very important that you read the translation a little. Especially for projects that has one
or more volumes. Once you start editing the first chapter you create a style and you need to keep yourself to that style
till the project is finished. Therefore make notes during your editing. Let's take a look at a template of my notes I make when I start editing the first chapter. Main character 01 => - narration font: - excited font: - sfx fonts: Main character 02 => - narration font: - excited font: - sfx fonts: Minor characters => - narration font: - excited font: - sfx fonts: Each main character get their own narration, excited and sfx font and for all the minor character we use the same font. For normal text we always use Wildwords 2,9px. It's useful to write down for sfx which font you used for which text. For example the word "thump" will be used often in the book, so it will look more professional if you keep using the same sfx font instead of changing it each time. Here's an example of one of my notes I made while I was editing the 'Oneshot - Asayake no Anchikushou by Sakurai Shushushu'. Main character 01 (Motoki) => - narration font: dadhand (3,5px) - excited font: radio active granny (5/5) {text size & leading are both 5pt} - sfx fonts: lovits -> sparkle, shock, close door marathon -> splat, hit zahstralogy -> thump, shine Save the page always as a .psd file so we're able make changes easier (e.g. grammar mistakes). You also might want to save the file every now and then so you don't lose it if your computer freezes for example. |
